Celestial Toyroom

Celestial Toyroom was the monthly newsletter of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society when I was a member, and for a good few years afterwards. In my pre-internet days, it was the perfect place to get anything I was thinking about Doctor Who off my chest.

It's important to remember as you read them that there is a strange far-sightedness that affects Doctor Who fans: when it comes to the current version of the program, only that fan can see how the producers are making mistakes that will KILL DOCTOR WHO FOREVER! These articles are written by a teenage Doctor Who fan who suffers that affliction just as badly as others have.

Perhaps the best place to see this in practice is my review of Paul Cornell's Human Nature (July 1995). First time I read it, it didn't grab me. I wrote a review that pretty much stretches "Meh" out to a couple of hundred words. Since then, every other reviewer has pretty universally loved it. It was so good, that Russell T Davies asked Paul to adapt it for the third series of the new Doctor Who.recommended reading

I've met Paul a couple of times at various Doctor Who things over the years. Every time I do, I feel incredibly embarrassed.Jormungand
