In Uniform

Some time ago, editor extraordinary Richard Salter let me know about a new company called Slash Books, who were looking for authors to write short stories on GLBT themes.

Cover of In Uniform, from Slash BooksThe first book they were planning to do was a short story anthology called "In Uniform", filled with stories of gay love, sex and relations between men who worked in uniform. At the time, Alan Turing had been in the news, because the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown had finally issued an official apology for the computer genius' treatment at the hands of society: for those who don't know, Turing was one of the men who cracked German codes during WWII but had the misfortune to be gay at a time when it was illegal. He was outed and chemically castrated, and then took his own life at the tragically early age of 41.

Wheels began to turn . . .

I sent Slash Books across a story called Principle of Explosion, about Turing and two policemen whose beat took them past his home in Wilmslow, which is now the third story in the collection. The book is now available to buy using the links to your right, and if my story isn't enough to tempt you I wasn't the only Who author that Richard got in touch with: the collection also features a new short story from none other than Kate Orman!

The book is available as a Kindle version and a hard copy book: get your copy today!
