Short Trips: Transmissions
One of the good things about writing for a living is when you meet people who are very good at what they do, and then good things happen to them.
Richard Salter was the editor of the MythMakers fiction magazine that I wrote most of my stories for. A few weeks before I was officially able to announce that I was writing The Many Hands, he got in touch to say that Big Finish had finally seen sense and given him a Short Trips anthology to edit. And would I like to write a story for it. Even though I was anticipating being a little busy in those coming months, I said I would . . . and I'm very glad I did.
The story I wrote was based on an old PDA submission that the range died before it could be officially accepted: the theme of the anthology is communication and communication technology, and so this prequel to Heritage showing how man and cetacean got into their first conversation seemed a good fit.
Luckily, Richard agreed.
