Unpublished Doctor Who Stories

Images of Dale Smith and his wife having a day out at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester This section is something of a swizz. OK, some of the stories here were never published: the first four were rejected by both Cosmic Masque and DWM, so fit the bill nicely. The other three, however, have actually been published. Just not on paper.

One of the fun things about being a Doctor Who fan on the internet is that there are a lot of creative people out there, and they tend to band together and do creative things. One of those things was a project called the Internet Adventures.

These were Round Robin stories (one writer wrote a chapter, the next writer read it and then wrote the chapter they thought came next and so on until a whole story was written) about the Eighth Doctor and his companions. I only took part in one, Experience, but it was a great deal of fun and a really good way to stretch your creative muscles.little monsters

After that, I wrote the first chapter for a Whoniverse Internet Adventure, a round robin that didn't feature the Doctor but was set in his universe. The rest of the story never to my knowledge materialised, but I did enjoy the process and still toy with the idea of using some of the characters I came up with.

Then, when I started trying to get a Doctor Who book published, I joined a writers group called Who-ink who had previously helped Jonathan Morris when he was writing Festival of Death. One Christmas we all had a little too much eggnog and decided to write a Christmas Doctor Who round robin. Snowflake was the result.
